Sebastian Rueda Montes ASA is an artist, administrator, and advocate for the advancement of the arts in Canada. For the past 7 years he has made a career out of championing artists, working closely to bring their work into the spotlight, and channeling these experiences into his own creative work.

He holds a BFA in drama from the University of Calgary and has worked with arts organizations across Calgary including Contemporary Calgary, Werklund Centre, Calgary International Film Festival, Honens Piano Competition, BUMP Festival, Chinook Blast, and many more.

His artworks emphasize the physical encounter between art and audience, insisting that the culmination of the work exists in the communication held during a direct encounter between the two. His works navigate photography’s life as an object in three dimensional space which commands the political, commercial and poetic ideas the image strives to convey.

In September 2026, Sebastian Rueda Montes will begin an MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths University of London
